Our Story

“It’s not just about candy. It’s about bringing people together and reminding them that joy still lives right here in our hometown.”— Kristin VanCuren Koester, owner
Dream first, doors second
Kristin dreamed of running a candy store since she was a kid. She and Matt built the real thing — because, in her words, “but we opened a candy store. we expect joy and excitement. that’s what this place is for.”
Named for “Calico Charlie”
Charles Foster — the governor Fostoria is named for — carried the nickname “Calico Charlie.” Our shop keeps his story and the town’s keepsakes close.
Local to the core
Local farmers, small businesses, and bits of Fostoria history fill the shop — including rescued shelving, chandeliers, and a five-and-dime cart.
